Gilani asks parliamentarians to monitor development projects
The Prime Minister was talking to Ms. Farkhanda Amjad MNA and Ms. Naeema Nisar MPA in a meeting at his Parliament House Chamber here Thursday afternoon.
The Prime Minister said in the wake of the recent devastating floods in the country the government has reprioritized its development agenda and has targeted those schemes which are near completion or their major work has been finished.
He added that this approach would ensure sustainable development in all parts of the country.
The Prime Minister said that for maintaining continuous economic growth the overall system of revenue generation has been reviewed and solid steps would be taken to make it more equitable and people friendly.
Ms. Farkhanda informed the Prime Minister about the status of the ongoing development projects in her area. She also appreciated the Prime Minister for his policy of continuing the development schemes despite financial difficulties.
Ms. Naeema Nisar, MPA, also briefed the Prime Minister about the development projects in her area.
Zardari persecutors must be held accountable: Malik
ABBOTTABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said the nation should hold those accountable who had implicated President Zardari in false cases.
He reiterated the PPP-led government’s resolve to eliminate the militants, saying efforts against terrorism were yielding results.
Addressing as the chief guest at the PPP women workers convention of Hazara division at the Jalal Baba Auditorium on Sunday, Rehman Malik asked the party workers, especially women, to play their due rule in strengthening the government. He asked them to fulfil the commitments made by Benazir Bhutto for the empowerment of women.
He said he had set a target to make the Nadra passport and immigration offices free of corruption and the move initiated by him would be completed at all costs. He said those involved in corruption would be punished.
The federal minister announced the establishment of the Women Police Academy at Abbottabad, which will be affiliated with the Federal Women Police Academy, Islamabad. He also announced a separate office of Nadra for women at Abbottabad. Rehman Malik directed the commissioner and DIG Hazara to give due care to the workers of the PPP and to give them priority in issuance of the Watan Cards.
Earlier, adviser to the prime minister and PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women wing provincial president Asma Arbab Alamgir highlighted the problems and difficulties of the PPP women workers. She also advised the workers to prepare for the next local government elections. PPP MPA Naeema Nisar, who is also the divisional president of the PPP women wing, thanked the interior minister for visiting Abbottabad and encouraging the workers.
Later, Asma Alamgir visited the press club, addressed journalists and announced donation of Rs100,000 for the club. She was accompanied by MPA Naeema Nisar and other office-bearers of PPP Hazara women wing.

ABBOTTABAD June 7: An amount of Rs900 million will be earmarked in the budget for promoting technical education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to help produce valuable workforce.
This was stated by Syed Ahmed Hassan Shah, Minister for Industries and Commerce, while addressing as chief guest a certificate distribution ceremony in Women Readymade Garments and Gaba Handicrafts Training Centre here on Tuesday.
MPA Ms Naeema Nisar, Akhtar Hussain Shah, Managing Director of Small Industries Development Board (SIDB), Peshawar and supervisor of the centre also spoke on the occasion.
Sheikh Nisar Ahmad, president, People’s Labour Bureau, Abbottabad, Haji Iftikhar, president of Small Industrialists Association, Abbottabad and large number of instructors and students of the centre attended the function.
Syed Ahmed Hassan said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had planned to create massive opportunities for self-employment for the youth particularly females.
The provincial government will also set up commerce colleges for women in each district and establish new industrial estates in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Hattar and Ghazi, generating huge economic and employment opportunities, the minister said.
He said the self-employment schemes were the most effective and sustainable source to overcome poverty and unemployment and also strengthen economic condition of the province.
Mr Ahmed Hassan said interest-free loans being given under Bacha Khan Akhpel Rozgar Scheme and Banazir Income Support Programme were launched to achieve the same purpose.
He said the government would initiate more programmes during the next financial year to enable unemployed male and female youth to earn livelihood in a dignified manner.
Describing industrial development as great source of economic growth, Syed Ahmad Hassan said he had changed the entire structure of the SIDB to achieve actual objectives.
The minister announced provision of five sewing machines and a computerised designing unit for the centre and declared the centre as raw material purchase point for all the centres of Hazara Division.

Resolution of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa (KPK) Assembly
The Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KPK) Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution supporting United Nation’s Human Rights Council’s Resolution on Preventable Maternal Mortality and Morbidity and Human Rights on October 6, 2011. Ms. Shazia Tehmas Khan, Chairperson Standing Committee on Population Welfare along with Ms. Sanjeeda Yousaf, Ms. Naeema Nisar and Ms. Mehar Sultana jointly presented the resolution in the Assembly’s session.
The passing of the resolution in KPK Assembley is a great achievement for the Rutgers WPF Pakistan team, a result of continuous and sustained efforts to advocate the United Nation’s Human Rights Council’s Preventable Maternal Mortality and Morbidity and Human Rights resolution at the Provincial level. After the successful adaption by the Baluchistan and Sindh Assemblies, advocacy efforts had been undertaken with the Members of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Assembly. Rutgers WPF Pakistan held a number of meetings with Members of Provincial Assembly and briefed the KPK Standing Committee on Population Welfare on the preventable maternal mortality resolution.
